A number of prominent politicians have been buried in St. Louis Number One.

Bernard deMarigny deMandeville (1785-1868)

deMarigny served in the US Army, the Louisiana Territorial Legislature, and the Louisiana State Senate. Faubourg Marigny (the neighborhood just east of the French Quarter) is named after him.

Eitenne Bore'

Appointed Mayor of New Orleans in 1801, when France re-acquired Louisiana from Spain. A plantation owner, is credited with being the first person to granulate sugar. Also interred is this tomb is the noted historian Charles Gayarre, who is Bore's grandson.

Pierre Derbigny

A noted jurist, Pierre Derbigny is credited with drawing up Louisiana's first civil code.

Ernest N. "Dutch" Morial

First black Mayor of New Orleans, from 1978 to 1986. The New Orleans Convention Center is named after Dutch.
