Canal Street

Masonic Cemetery

Founded in 1865 by the Grand Lodge of the State of Louisiana, F&AM.  The resolution granting permission to found the cemetery was approved by Captain Stephen Hoyt, U.S. Army, who was acting mayor, in March of 1865. Just to be safe, however, the Grand Lodge re-applied for approval, and the restored civilian government approved the petition on January 18, 1868.

The cemetery is located at City Park Avenue and Bienville Street.
