Interesting Graves #1
There are a number of interesting graves in Holt Cemetery. Since it’s a potters’ field, there are no fixed standards for headstones, etc., so families do what they can to put up markers for their loved ones.
The grave second from the left is that of Albert and Dolores Edwards. The graves in this section are well-tended, but the markers are mostly made of wood. That means they will decay at a very rapid rate compared to stone markers.
You’ll notice on the right-hand side of the photo, there are two rounded stone markers, and another stone marker set into the ground next to the Edwards grave. These are military headstones, indicating that those buried here are veterans of the US Armed Forces.
The Crematorium
I’ve never seen or heard of a crematorium actually inside a cemetery, yet, that’s what this is. It’s also interesting that I never noticed this building until after the Hope for Holt group started their clean-up efforts. This part of the cemetery was an overgrown jungle.
